Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs receives the delegation headed by the President of the Russia-Myanmar Association of Friendship and Cooperation (27-9-2023)

U Chan Aye, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs received the delegation headed by Mr. Anatoly Bulochnikov, President of the Russia-Myanmar Association of Friendship and Cooperation at the Permanent Secretary’s Office at Office No. (9) in Nay Pyi Taw on 27 September 2023 at 13:00 hrs.

During the meeting, both sides cordially exchanged views on cooperation in the electric power, energy, agriculture and tourism sectors.

Also present at the meeting were senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and representatives from the Russia-Myanmar Association of Friendship and Cooperation.

Deputy Prime Minister and the Union Minister for Foreign Affairs receives Regional Director of the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) Asia Region (21-9-2023)

H.E. U Than Swe, Deputy Prime Minister and the Union Minister for Foreign Affairs received Mr. Sanjay Mathur, Regional Director of the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) Asia Region based in Bangkok, at 1300 hrs on 21 September 2023 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Nay Pyi Taw.

During the meeting, they discussed ways and means pertaining to existing and further cooperation between the Government of Myanmar and the UNOPS.

Also present at the meeting were senior officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ms. Sara Austin Netzer, Country Director ad-interim of the UNOPS Myanmar in Yangon.

During the call, they cordially exchanged views on matters pertaining to promoting the existing friendly relations and bilateral cooperation, including the areas of trade, investment, and cultural exchanges, accelerating ongoing negotiations of bilateral agreements, repatriating of the verified displaced persons from Rakhine State, and enhancing collaboration in the regional and international arenas, particularly under the frameworks of ASEAN-Gulf Cooperation Council (ASEAN-GCC) and the United Nations.

U Than Swe, Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, received Mr. Deng Xijun, Special Envoy for Asian Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, on 18 September 2023 at 1030 hrs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Nay Pyi Taw.

During the meeting, they cordially discussed the matters pertaining to the further enhancement of the existing Pauk Phaw relations, accelerating the mutually beneficial cooperation, the maintenance of peace and stability along the border between Myanmar and China, the latest developments in peace and national reconciliation process of Myanmar, China’s continuous constructive support towards Myanmar development endeavours as well as closer collaboration both in regional and international arena, especially ASEAN and the United Nations.

U Than Swe, Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs, received H.E. Dr. Md. Monwar Hossain, Ambassador-designate of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Nay Pyi Taw on 5 September 2023 at 1300 hrs.
During the call, the Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs extended congratulations to the Ambassador-designate for the latter’s appointment as Ambassador of Bangladesh to Myanmar. They cordially exchanged views on further consolidation of bilateral relations, expansion of mutually beneficial cooperation in various areas including bilateral trade, investment and connectivity, successful implementation of repatriation of verified displaced persons from Rakhine State as well as regional and international matters of common interest.

During the call, they cordially exchanged views on matters pertaining to the further enhancement of the existing friendly bilateral relations, mutually beneficial cooperation in areas including the education and IT sectors, accelerating the implementation of Myanmar-India bilateral projects on the basics of mutual benefit, promotion of trade including the border trade and commerce, coordination for the consular related matters as well as closer collaboration both in the regional and international fora, including ASEAN and United Nations.

During the courtesy call, they shared their views on the matters pertaining to the support of the IOM to the people of Myanmar in the field of migration and the cooperation between the two sides.

Also present at the meeting were the senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Mr. Euan McDougall, Program Manager of IOM Myanmar.

During the meeting, they exchanged views on the current cooperation between Myanmar and the United Nations and facilitation for provision of humanitarian assistance to the needy population.
