Myanmar Charge’ d’ Affaires attends the 36th ASEAN-U.S. Dialogue (24-5-2024)
The Myanmar delegation led by U Thet Win, Charge’ d’ Affaires a.i./ Minister of the Embassy of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar in Washington, D.C., attended the 36th ASEAN-U.S. Dialogue which was held at the U.S. Department of State on 24 May 2024.
The meeting was co-chaired by Mr. Daniel Krintenbrink, Assistant Secretary for East Asian and Pacific Affairs, U.S. Department of State and Mr. Sidharto R. Suryodipuro, Deputy Minister for ASEAN Affairs/ SOM Leader ASEAN-Indonesia. It was attended by Senior Officials of ASEAN Member States, Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN for ASEAN Political-Security Community and U.S. Permanent Representative to ASEAN Ambassador.
During the meeting, the Senior Officials reviewed ASEAN-U.S. cooperation including progress of the implementation of the “Plan of Action implement the ASEAN-U.S. Strategic Partnership (2021-2025)” and “Plan of Action of Annex to the ASEAN-U.S. Comprehensive Strategic Partnership”. They also exchanged views on possible areas of cooperation such as maritime security, Security Education Business and trade cooperation; green economy, non-conventional challenges, technical partnership, sustainable development, digital economy, infrastructure development and climate change for further strengthening of the ASEAN-U.S. Comprehensive Strategic Partnership as well as regional and international developments. Moreover, they also discussed forthcoming bilateral meetings.
The Myanmar Charge’ d’ Affaires appraised the Meeting of Myanmar’s cooperation with ASEAN in the implementation of the Five-point Consensus including the provision of humanitarian assistances to Myanmar. The Myanmar Charge’ d’ Affaires attended related programmes including the working lunch hosted by the Assistant Secretary for East Asian and Pacific Affairs.
Joint Meeting between Myanmar Delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs and Delegation led by Special Envoy of ASEAN Chair on Myanmar held in Nay Pyi Taw (15-5-2024)
The Joint Meeting between the Myanmar delegation led by H.E. U Than Swe, Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and the Delegation led by H.E. Mr. Alounkeo Kittikhoun, the Special Envoy of the ASEAN Chair on Myanmar, was held at 1330 hrs on 15 May 2024 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nay Pyi Taw.
At the Joint Meeting, H.E. U Ko Ko Hlaing, Union Minister for the Ministry of the Chairman of the State Administration Office (2), H.E. Lt-Gen Tun Tun Naung, Union Minister of the Ministry of Border Affairs/ the Chairman of National Solidarity and Peace-making Negotiation Committee (NSPNC), H.E. Dr. Soe Win, Union Minister for the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement, H.E. U Lwin Oo, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and the concerned senior officials from relevant Ministries, H.E. Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, Secretary-General of ASEAN and Mr. Lee Yam Ming, Executive Director of ASEAN Coordinating Centre for Humanitarian Assistance on disaster management (the AHA Centre) and responsible officials from ASEAN Secretariat were presented.
During the Joint Meeting, both sides cordially exchanged views on matters pertaining to the status of providing Humanitarian Assistance in Myanmar and further cooperation between Myanmar and ASEAN in the field of Humanitarian Assistance.
In the evening, the Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs hosted a working dinner for the Special Envoy of the ASEAN Chair and the members of delegation at the Park Royal Hotel, Nay Pyi Taw.

U Lwin Oo, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs received Mr. Marcoluigi Corsi, United Nations Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator a.i. (UN RC/HC a.i.) at 1100 hrs on 15 May 2024 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Nay Pyi Taw.
During the meeting, they discussed the matters on existing cooperation between the Government of Myanmar and the United Nations agencies.
Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs receives Ambassador of Nepal to Myanmar (9-5-2024)
U Lwin Oo, Deputy Minister, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, received H.E. Mr. Harishchandra Ghimire, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Nepal to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, at 1100 hrs on 9 May 2024 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Nay Pyi Taw.
During the call, they cordially exchanged views on matters pertaining to the further enhancement of the friendly bilateral relations between the two countries, expansion of cooperation particularly in the areas of trade, investment and tourism as well as closer collaboration in regional and multilateral fora.
Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs receives Ambassador of Thailand to Myanmar (9-5-2024)
U Than Swe, Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, received Mr. Mongkol VISITSTUMP, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar at 1330 hrs on 9 May 2024 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Nay Pyi Taw.
During the courtesy call, both sides cordially exchanged views on matters pertaining to the further enhancement of the existing long-standing cordial relations and bilateral partnership, and also discussed the expansion of mutually beneficial cooperation especially in the areas of tourism, education, culture, trade, investment, and people-to-people connectivity between the two countries as well as closer collaboration at both regional and multilateral arenas on the basis of mutual understanding and support.
Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs receives Ambassador of Pakistan to Myanmar (8-5-2024)
U Than Swe, Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, received H.E. Mr. Imran Haider, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar at 1300 hrs on 8 May 2024 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nay Pyi Taw.
During the call, the Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs extended congratulations to the Ambassador for the latter’s appointment as Ambassador of Pakistan to Myanmar. They cordially exchanged views on matters pertaining to the further advancement of the existing bilateral relations between the two countries, expansion of mutually beneficial cooperation in various areas including bilateral trade and investment, tourism, agriculture and industry between Myanmar and Pakistan.

U Than Swe, Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar received H.E. Mr. Chen Hai, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to Myanmar, at 1300 hrs on 7 May 2024 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nay Pyi Taw.
During the meeting, they cordially exchanged views on pertaining to the further enhancement of the existing “Pauk-Phaw” relations, the maintenance of peace and stability along the border between Myanmar and China, Myanmar-China Bilateral Relations, accelerating the mutually beneficial cooperation and closer collaboration in both regional and international arena.

U Lwin Oo, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs received Ms. Elena Ajmone Sessera, Resident Representative of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), at 11:00 hrs on 7 May 2024, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Nay Pyi Taw.
During the meeting, they exchanged views on ICRC’s activities and measures to provide humanitarian assistance more effectively in Myanmar.
Also present at the meeting were the senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Mr. Christophe Ami Leon Taramarcaz, Deputy Resident Representative of ICRC.

U Lwin Oo, Deputy Minister, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar has been awarded the badge “For Interaction” by H.E. Mr. Iskander Azizov, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar on behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Nay Pyi Taw at 1530 hrs on 2 May 2024.
The award is conferred to those who are performing diligently for the development of bilateral relations, promoting Russian language and culture. During the ambassador tenure in Russia, Deputy Foreign Minister actively contributed in strengthening bilateral relations, promoting people-to-people ties, fostering the Senior Officials Dialogues particularly in the area of security and military-training cooperation.
