Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs receives Brazilian Ambassador to Myanmar (12-11-2024)

The Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar U Than Swe received H.E. Mr. Gustavo Rocha de Menezes, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federative Republic of Brazil to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, at 1300 hrs on 12 November 2024 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nay Pyi Taw.
 
During the call, they cordially exchanged views on matters pertaining to the enhancement of Myanmar-Brazil bilateral relations and explored potential areas of collaboration for mutual benefit, including the Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty, the 4th political consultations between Myanmar and Brazil and closer collaboration in the international arenas.

During the courtesy call, both sides candidly exchanged views on matters pertaining to the further elevation of the bilateral ties and discussed matters related to the intensification of mutually beneficial cooperation across areas of common interest as well as the consular matter of the Filipinos in Myanmar.

During the farewell call, they reviewed the development of the existing traditional friendly relations and candidly discussed matters on wide range of issues pertaining to the potential for further strengthening the mutually beneficial cooperation especially in the areas of trade and investment, tourism and people-to-people contacts between the two countries as well as closer collaboration in both regional and multilateral arenas.

Myanmar Delegation led by Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar participated in the 19th East Asia Summit, 12th ASEAN-U.S. Summit, 14th ASEAN-UN Summit, and attended the Closing Ceremony of the 44th and 45th ASEAN Summits and Related Summits and Handing Over Ceremony of the ASEAN Chairmanship to Malaysia.
 
Heads of State/Heads of Government from ASEAN Member States, UN Secretary-General, ASEAN Foreign Ministers, and ASEAN Secretary-General participated the said Meetings and occasions, and Prime Minister of Timor-Leste also attended as an observer.
 
At the 19th East Asia Summit, EAS Leaders discussed and reviewed the work of EAS, its future direction and exchanged views on regional and international issues. At the ASEAN-U.S. and ASEAN-UN Summits, Leaders discussed issues related to the progress in the implementation of the current Plans of Action, projects and joint programmes proposed by ASEAN Member States for enhancing cooperation and mutual understanding under ASEAN-led mechanisms.
