U Than Swe, Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, received H.E. Mr. Abhay Thakur, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, at 1000 hrs on 5 December 2024 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Nay Pyi Taw.

 

During the call, they engaged in a cordial and constructive exchange of views on strengthening the traditional bonds of friendship between the two countries through the existing bilateral mechanisms across various sectors of common interest, advancing cooperation on regional and international matters of mutual interest.

H.E. U Than Swe, Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, received H.E. Mr. Uladzimir Baravikou, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, at 1400 hrs on 4 December 2024 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Nay Pyi Taw.

 

During the meeting, both sides cordially exchanged views on further consolidation of the existing ties of friendship between Myanmar and Belarus including commemorating the 25th Anniversary of diplomatic relations, expansion of bilateral cooperation in various sectors including trade, economic, social, cultural and tourism sectors, and enhancement of cooperation through regional and international organizations.

U Than Swe, Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, received the Russian State Duma delegation led by Mr. Sholban Kara-Ool, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma, Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, at 11:00 hrs. on 3 December 2024, at the Union Minister’s Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Nay Pyi Taw.

 

During the meeting, both sides cordially exchanged views on the further consolidation of the existing ties of friendship between Myanmar and Russia, expansion of bilateral cooperation in various areas including economic, cultural and tourism sectors, and enhancement of cooperation through regional and international organizations.

U Than Swe, Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, was interviewed by Mr. Igor Brovarnik, Bureau Chief in Thailand of the Russian News Agency ITAR-TASS, at 1330 hrs on 29 November 2024 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Nay Pyi Taw.

 

During the interview, Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs explained about the evolution of Myanmar foreign policy, Myanmar-Russia bilateral relations and cooperation, opportunities in cooperation with BRICS member states, Myanmar’s geopolitical vision in the modern world, exertion of all possible means to mitigate effects of unilateral sanctions imposed by western countries, Myanmar’s tourism sector, Myanmar’s effort for national reconciliation and challenges faced by Myanmar.

U Than Swe, Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, received Mr. Dusit Manapan, Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand at 1400 hrs on 27 November 2024 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Nay Pyi Taw.

 

During the meeting, both sides deliberate together on the further enhancement of bilateral relations and ongoing cooperation, and discussed matters pertaining to the advancement of the multi-sectoral cooperation, maintenance of security and stability along the border and strengthening people-to-people contacts as well as closer collaboration at both regional and multilateral arenas.

The Representative of the United Nations World Food Programme to Myanmar, Mr. Michael John Dunford, presented his Credentials to H. E. U Than Swe, Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Nay Pyi Taw at 10:00 hrs on 20 November 2024.

 

During the presentation of Credentials, they exchanged views on matters relating to the existing cooperation between Government of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and WFP and future programme of WFP in Myanmar.

 

Also present at the meeting were the senior officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

U Than Swe, Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs received Ms. Maria Izaskun Gaviria Ayucar, Senior Fund Portfolio Manager of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria at 1100 hrs on 20 November 2024 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Nay Pyi Taw.

 

During the meeting, they exchanged views on matters related to Global Fund’s ongoing activities in Myanmar and discussed about enhancing cooperation between the Government of Myanmar and the Global Fund.

 

Also present at the meeting were senior officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

U Lwin Oo, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar receives Mr. Pyotr ILYICHEV, Director of the Department of International Organizations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation at 13:30 hrs on 20 November 2024 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Nay Pyi Taw.

 

During the meeting, they discussed about strengthening the existing relations between Myanmar and Russia and exploring potentials for cooperation in the fields of mutual interest. Afterwards, Director-General Level consultation between two foreign ministries was held on closer cooperation and potentials areas of cooperation at UN and international fora.

 

Also present at the meeting and consultation were the senior officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and H.E. Mr. Iskander Azizov, Russian Ambassador to Myanmar from the Embassy of Russian Federation in Yangon.
