During the call, they discussed strengthening the longstanding friendship and cooperation between Myanmar and India, exploring opportunities to deepen collaboration in areas of mutual interest and emphasizing the importance of utilizing existing bilateral mechanisms to achieve fruitful outcomes.

Mr. Nassereddin HEIDARI, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar with residence in Bangkok at 1100 hrs on 7 January 2025 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Nay Pyi Taw.
 
During the call, they cordially exchanged views on matters pertaining to strengthening of the existing bilateral relations between Myanmar and Iran, mutually beneficial cooperation including trade and investment sectors, and enhancement of collaboration in the regional and international arenas.

During the courtesy call, the Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs congratulated the Ambassador on his appointment as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar. They engaged in a cordial and constructive exchange of views on strengthening the traditional bonds of friendship between the two counties through the existing bilateral mechanisms, focusing on various sectors of mutual interest including trade, connectivity and energy sector as well as advancing cooperation on regional and international spheres.

The Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar U Than Swe received H.E. Mr. CHENG Manith, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Cambodia to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar at 1300 hrs on 20 December 2024 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Nay Pyi Taw.
 
During the courtesy call, the Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs congratulated the Ambassador on his appointment as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Cambodia to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar. They candidly exchanged views on matters pertaining to the further advancement of the existing friendly bilateral ties, and intensification of mutually beneficial cooperation across areas of common interest including trade, tourism as well as closer collaboration in regional and multilateral arenas.

Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs U Than Swe participated in the Informal Consultation in Bangkok, Thailand (19 -12- 2024, Bangkok)

At the invitation of Mr. Maris Sangiampongsa, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand, the Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs U Than Swe participated in the Informal Consultation at Ministerial Level between neighbouring countries of Myanmar  Bangladesh, China, India, the Lao PDR, and Thailand, on 19 December 2024 in Bangkok, Thailand.
 
At the Informal Consultation, the Foreign Ministers and representatives cordially discussed and exchanged views on cooperation in promoting border peace and security as well as combating transnational crimes.
 
During the consultation, the Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs also updated the Myanmar Government’s efforts to ensure peace, development and democracy in the country and the recent developments in Myanmar to the Heads of Delegations.
 
In the afternoon of 19 December 2024, Mr. Maris Sangiampongsa, Foreign Minister of Thailand hosted an official lunch in honor of Heads of Delegation and delegates at the Capella Hotel in Bangkok.
 
The Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs U Than Swe separately met Mr. Sun Weidong, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China at (1400) hrs and Mr. Md. Touhid Hossain, Adviser for Foreign Affairs of the Interim Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh at 1700 hrs on 18 December 2024. The Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs also met Mr. Thongsvanh Phomvihane, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic at 1330 hrs, Mr. Shri Vikram Misri, Foreign Secretary of the Ministry of External Affairs of the Republic of India at 1430 hrs and Mr. Enrique A. Manalo, Secretary of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Philippines, who was in Bangkok to attend a separate meeting, at 1715 hrs on 19 December 2024 at the Capella Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand.
 
During the meetings, the Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs exchanged views on further enhancing peace and stability along the borders and combating transnational crimes, strengthening cooperation of bilateral relations, continue maintaining peace and security in the border areas between the two countries, pertaining to the advancement of the multi-sectoral cooperation, strengthening people-to-people contacts, as well as closer collaboration at both regional and multilateral arenas.
 
The Myanmar delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs U Than Swe arrived back at Yangon International Airport in the evening of 19 December 2024 and the delegation was welcomed at the Yangon International Airport by officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

 

Myanmar delegation led by U Lwin Oo, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs attends the 7th Myanmar-China (Yunnan) Cooperation Forum (12-12-2024, Kunming)

The Myanmar delegation composed of senior officials from 12 Ministries concerned and delegates from the Republic of the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (UMFCCI) led by U Lwin Oo, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar attended the 7th Myanmar-China (Yunnan) Cooperation Forum and related events held on 10 December 2024 at the Wyndham Grand Plaza Hotel in Kunming city of Yunnan Province, People’s Republic of China.
 
While in Kunming, Deputy Minister had a bilateral meeting with Mr. Hu Dapeng, Vice Governor of Yunnan Province, and attended the Plenary Session of the Myanmar-China (Yunnan) Cooperation Forum and delivered a remark. In his remarks, Deputy Minister emphasized on enhancement of existing Paukphaw relations between Myanmar and China and promotion of mutually beneficial cooperation between Myanmar and Yunnan Province under the Mechanism of Yunnan Forum.
 
Moreover, representatives from concerned ministries participated in the respective group discussions of the Forum. During the group discussions, representatives from Ministry of Planning and Finance and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and representatives from Foreign Affairs Office of the Yunnan Provincial People’s Government and Yunnan Provincial Public Security Department of the People’s Republic of China led the discussions related to comprehensive strategic partnership of cooperation between Myanmar and China, further consolidation of existing cooperation in agriculture, transport, electricity, trade and investment, environmental conservation and tourism sectors, promotion of people-to-people exchanges through the establishment of sister cities.
 
After the group discussions, U Lwin Oo, Deputy Foreign Minister and head of delegation from Myanmar side and Mr. Hu Dapeng, Vice Governor of Yunnan Province and head of delegation from Chinese side signed the Meeting Minutes of the 7th Myanmar-China (Yunnan) Cooperation Forum.
 
Then, Myanmar delegation led by Deputy Minister attended the Dinner hosted by Mr. Hu Dapeng, Vice Governor of Yunnan Province of the People’s Republic of China.
 
In the afternoon of 12th December 2024, Myanmar delegation led by Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs left Kunming Changshui International Airport for Myanmar. The delegation was seen off by officials from the Foreign Affairs Office of the People’s Government of Yunnan Province and the Consulate General of Myanmar in Kunming at the Kunming Changshui International Airport.

U Ko Ko Kyaw, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs received Ms. Elena Ajmone Sessera, Resident Representative of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) who has completed her assignment in Myanmar, and Mr. Arnaud de Baecque, new Resident Representative of ICRC to Myanmar, at 1300 hrs on 10 December 2024, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Nay Pyi Taw.
 
During the meeting, they exchanged views on the activities of ICRC in Myanmar.
Also present at the meeting were senior officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs received the Secretary-General of the ASEAN-China Centre (9-12-2024)

H.E. U Ko Ko Kyaw, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, received H.E. Shi Zhongjun, Secretary-General of the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) and members of delegation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nay Pyi Taw on 9 December 2024 at 10:30 hours.
 
During the meeting, they cordially discussed relevant matters on further deepening mutual understanding and friendship under the six priority cooperation areas of ASEAN-China Center (ACC) which are trade, investment, education, culture, tourism, information and media. Both sides emphasized the crucial role of the ACC while highlighting the success of projects and activities which were completed in 2024.
 
Deputy Minister appreciated the ACC’s support for offering Chinese language training to young diplomats which has been commenced via online upon the request of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and to explore the possibility of dispatching Chinese language mobile training team to benefit more trainees in Myanmar. Deputy Minister also discussed to further exchanges in areas of agriculture productivity, trade promotion, renewable energy technology.
 
H.E. Mr. Shi Zhongjun also expressed appreciation for Myanmar’s commitment in enhancing the ASEAN-China Dialogue Relations to new heights while focusing the critical role of Myanmar in realizing the joint initiatives and activities included in the Work Plan of ACC. Deputy Minister and the Secretary-General agreed to further promote people-to-people exchanges through the ACC programs to enhance mutual understanding and build closer bonds among the peoples of ASEAN and China.

At the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs, U Than Swe briefed recent developments in Myanmar and both sides cordially exchanged views on matters pertaining to the enhancement of cultural, economic and trade cooperation between Myanmar and Germany including matters related to protect Myanmar citizens in Germany.
