ASEAN-Myanmar SOM Leader, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Myanmar attended the 37th ASEAN-Australia Forum (20-2-2025,Jakarta)

ASEAN-Myanmar SOM Leader, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar attended the 37th ASEAN-Australia Forum held on 20 February 2025 at the ASEAN Secretariat in Jakarta. The Forum was co-chaired by H.E. Sidharto Reza Suryodipuro, ASEAN-Indonesia SOM Leader and H.E. Michelle Chan, Deputy Secretary for South and Southeast Asia Group and Australia’s SOM Leader for ASEAN, East Asia Summit and ASEAN Regional Forum. At the Forum, Senior Officials and delegates from the ASEAN Member States, and the Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN Political and Security Community and the relevant officials from the ASEAN Secretariat were also in attendance.
The Meeting exchanged views on the developments in ASEAN and Australia, and reviewed the progress of the implementation of the Plan of Action to Implement the ASEAN- Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (2025-2029), and mapped out plans of the ASEAN and Australia for the year 2025 and towards the future.
It is reported that after the Meeting, Myanmar Delegation attended the Launch of the Australia- Southeast Asia Regional Development Partnership Plan 2024-2028 which was held in ASEAN Hall of the ASEAN Secretariat.-2025,

U Than Swe, Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, received H.E. Mr. Harishchandra Ghimire, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Nepal to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, at 10:30 hrs on 20 February 2025 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Nay Pyi Taw.
During the meeting, they cordially exchanged views on expanding bilateral relations, focusing on strengthening economic cooperation and promoting trade and investment between the two countries.
Also present at the meeting were senior officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

ASEAN-Myanmar SOM Leader, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, together with H.E. Andrey Rudenko, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation co-chaired 21st ASEAN-Russia Senior Officials’ Meeting held on 18-19 February 2025 at the ASEAN Secretariat in Jakarta. Representatives from the ASEAN Member States, and the relevant officials from the ASEAN Secretariat were also in attendance.
The Meeting exchanged views on the developments in ASEAN and Russia, and reviewed the progress of the implementation of the ASEAN-Russia Comprehensive Plan of Action (2021-2025), and mapped out plans of the ASEAN and Russia for the year 2025 and towards the future.
It is reported that after the Meeting, the photo exhibition on “ASEAN-Russia: prospects of cooperation in civilian nuclear energy and technologies” was launched with the respective opening remarks by the Myanmar Permanent Secretary and the Vice Foreign Minister of Russian Federation.

U Lwin Oo, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, received H.E. Dr. Md. Monwar Hossain, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, at 1100 hrs on 18 February 2025 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Nay Pyi Taw.
During the meeting, they exchanged views in a frank and cordial manner on further consolidation of bilateral relations and expansion of mutually beneficial cooperation in various areas between Myanmar and Bangladesh.

U Than Swe, Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar held a bilateral meeting together with H.E. Mr. Liu Zhongyi, Assistant Minister of Public Security of the People’s Republic of the of China and H.E. Ms. Ma jia, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Myanmar at 1400 hrs on 14 February 2025 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nay Pyi Taw.
At the meeting, they cordially discussed the matters pertaining to the further consolidating of the existing Pauk-Phaw relations, continue implementation of bilateral cooperation projects between the two countries, promoting of legal cooperation to jointly crack down trans-border crimes, boosting collaboration between the relevant departments to combat online gambling and telecommunication fraud networks along the border areas, strengthening tri-lateral cooperation between Myanmar, China and Thailand including cooperation with regional and international community and maintenance of peace and stability along the Myanmar-China borders.
Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs attends the 31st ASEAN-China Senior Officials’ Consultation (14 -2- 2025, Ningbo, China)

As part of the important mechanism in ASEAN’s external relations, the 31st ASEAN-China Senior Officials’ Consultation (31st ACSOC) was convened under the co-chairmanship of Malaysia and the People’s Republic of China from 12 to 14 February 2025 in Ningbo, People’s Republic of China.
At the invitation of the Co-Chairs, Malaysia and China, the Myanmar delegation led by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs attended the 31st ACSOC.
At the 31st ACSOC, Senior Officials discussed the follow-up actions of the 27th ASEAN-China Summit, the progress of the ASEAN-China Plan of Action (2021-2025), developments in ASEAN-China cooperation under the three ASEAN Community Pillars, and regional and international issues. They also discussed on the preparations for the ASEAN-China Foreign Ministers’ Meeting and the 28th ASEAN-China Summit which will be held during this year.

Monwar Hossain, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, at 1000 hrs on 7 February 2025 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Nay Pyi Taw.
During the meeting, they exchanged views on ways to further strengthen bilateral ties, including fostering closer economic cooperation, and discussed potential initiatives to promote trade and investment between the two countries.
The Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister for Foreign Affairs received the Delegation led by the Executive Director of the AHA Centre (6-2-2025,Nay Pyi Taw)

On 6 February 2025, the Deputy Prime Minister and the Union Minister for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar welcomed the delegation led by Mr. Lee Yam Ming, Executive Director of the ASEAN Coordinating Centre for Humanitarian Assistance on disaster management (AHA Centre). The meeting was also attended by the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, Permanent Secretary, Director-General, and senior officials from the ASEAN Affairs Department.
During the meeting, Mr. Lee Yam Ming provided an overview of the AHA Centre’s future plans for the provision of humanitarian assistance to Myanmar, while expressing appreciation to the Government of Myanmar for invaluable support in facilitating the AHA Centre’s works in Myanmar throughout the entire process of the implementation of the Point 4 of the Five-Point Consensus as well as its works in response to Cyclone MOCHA.
The Deputy Prime Minister expressed gratitude for the AHA Centre’s efforts and underscored the importance of a coordinated approach to address the actual needs of vulnerable populations. He further emphasized the need to extend support for long-term recovery initiatives for those Myanmar people in need. He then reaffirmed Myanmar’s continued support to the AHA Centre’s operations in Myanmar and to ensure that all the assistance reach to all in need.

U Than Swe, Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs received Ms. Kirstine Damkjaer, Deputy Executive Director of United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) in Copenhagen, Denmark at 1030 hrs on 6 February 2025 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Nay Pyi Taw.
During the meeting, they exchanged views on matters related to UNOPS’s ongoing activities in Myanmar and discussed about enhancing cooperation between Myanmar and UNOPS.
Also present at the meeting were Mr. Sanjay Mathur, Regional Director of UNOPS Asia Region in Bangkok, Ms. Sara Austin Netzer, Country Director and Representative of UNOPS in Myanmar, and senior officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
