Myanmar delegation attends ASEAN Senior Officials’ Meeting and related meetings (29-4-2025, Kuala Lumpur)

The Myanmar delegation, led by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, attended the ASEAN Senior Officials’ Meeting, the Meeting of the Executive Committee of the Southeast Asia Nuclear Weapon-Free Zone Commission and the 18th Meeting of the ASEAN Coordinating Council Working Group on Timor-Leste’s Application for ASEAN Membership held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 28-4-2025 to 29-4-2025.
At those meetings, Senior Officials discussed and exchanged views on various substantive matters including the priorities and deliverables of the ASEAN Chair which are being implemented throughout 2025, the ASEAN Community Vision 2045 which will be submitted to the 46th ASEAN Summit for adoption, applications to the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia, applications for the establishment of the formal partnerships with ASEAN, Timor-Leste’s application for ASEAN membership and developments in relations with ASEAN’s dialogue partners.
Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs of Myanmar, received Ambassador of Nepal to Myanmar (10-4-2025, Nay Pyi Taw)

U Than Swe, Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, received H.E. Mr. Harishchandra Ghimire, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Nepal to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, at 1100 hrs on 10 April 2025 at the Ministry of Foreign Affair in Nay Pyi Taw.
During the meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs of Myanmar expressed his appreciation to Nepal for providing humanitarian assistance and sending a medical team to Myanmar in the aftermath of the devastating earthquake. Both sides discussed to work closely in the rescue and relief efforts of the victims of the earthquake. They exchanged views on ways to further strengthen bilateral ties, including fostering closer economic cooperation, and to promote trade and investment between two countries.

U Than Swe, Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar received Mr. Michael Dunford, Resident Representative of the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) at 13:00 hrs on 10 April 2025 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar in Nay Pyi Taw.
During the meeting, they discussed on the matters pertaining to the provision of humanitarian assistance to the population from the areas affected by the Mandalay earthquake which struck in the central part of Myanmar on 28 March 2025.
At the meeting were also presented by the senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

U Than Swe, Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar received Ms. Julie Bishop, Special Envoy of the United Nations Secretary-General on Myanmar, at 10:30 hrs on 9 April 2025 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Nay Pyi Taw.
During the meeting, they discussed on matters to be coordinated between Myanmar and the United Nations concerning assistance and response efforts for the people affected by the earthquake. The Special Envoy also expressed her sincere condolences and empathy for the loss of lives and livelihoods caused by the Mandalay earthquake that struck Myanmar.

During the meeting, they discussed matters related to supporting the people affected by the Mandalay earthquake in Myanmar.

Mr. Abhay Thakur, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of India to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, at 1630 hrs on 7 April 2025 at the Ministry of Foreign Affair in Nay Pyi Taw.
During the meeting, the Deputy Minister express his appreciation to India for providing humanitarian assistance and sending medical teams to Myanmar in the aftermath of the devastating earthquake. During the meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs of Myanmar expressed his appreciation to Bangladesh for providing humanitarian assistance and sending medical teams to Myanmar in the aftermath of the devastating earthquake. Both sides discussed to work closely in the rescue and relief efforts of the victim of the earthquake. During the meeting, they discussed matters related to supporting the people affected by the earthquake in Myanmar, particularly in the area of medical services.
