Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs of Myanmar receives UNFPA Representative to Myanmar (27-5-2025, Nay Pyi Taw)

U Than Swe, Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs received Mr. Jaime Nadal Roig, Representative of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) to Myanmar at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Nay Pyi Taw at 10:30 hrs on 27 May 2025.
During the meeting, they exchanged views on matters pertaining to the activities of UNFPA in Myanmar and provision of the reproductive health kits to women and girls from the earthquake affected areas.
Also present at the meeting were the senior officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs attends the 46th ASEAN Summits and Related Meetings (26-5- 2025, Kuala Lumpur)

Myanmar Delegation led by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar attended the 46th ASEAN Summits (Plenary Session) and (Retreat Session) and participated in the ASEAN Leaders’ Interface with Representatives of ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA), ASEAN Leaders’ Interface with Representatives of ASEAN Youth, ASEAN Leaders’ Interface with Representatives of ASEAN Business Advisory Council (ASEAN-BAC) and Signing Ceremony of the Kuala Lumpur Declaration on ASEAN 2045: Our Shared Future, which were separately held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on 26 May 2025.
Heads of State/Heads of Government from ASEAN Member States, ASEAN Foreign Ministers and ASEAN Secretary-General attended the said events, and Prime Minister of Timor-Leste also attended as an observer.
At the 46th ASEAN Summit (Plenary Session), the ASEAN Chair updated the priority deliverables under the three community pillars in 2025, reviewed the progress of cooperation with dialogue partners and external partners.
At the ASEAN Leaders’ Interface with Representatives of ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA), the Leaders discussed cooperation among parliaments of ASEAN Member States. Also, at the ASEAN Leaders’ Interface with Representatives of ASEAN Youth, Leaders extensively discussed on enhancing the capacity and role of the youth. The ASEAN Leaders’ Interface with the ASEAN Business Advisory Council (ABAC) highlighted the need for sustained collaboration and commitment to achieve ASEAN’s vision of shared prosperity.
Afterwards, the Permanent Secretary participated in the Signing Ceremony of the Kuala Lumpur Declaration on ASEAN 2045: Our Shared Future.
In the evening, the delegation led by the Permanent Secretary attended the Gala Dinner of the 46th ASEAN summit and related Summits hosted by the Prime Minister of the Malaysia and his spouse at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.

Myanmar Delegation led by Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar attended the ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (AMM), 29th ASEAN Political-Security Community (APSC) Council Meeting, 36th ASEAN Coordinating Council (ACC) Meeting and ASEAN-GCC Ministerial Meeting separately held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on 25 May 2025.
Foreign Ministers from ASEAN Member States and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), ASEAN Senior Officials, Secretaries-General of ASEAN and GCC attended the said Meetings, and the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Timor-Leste also participated as an observer.
The Meetings discussed and reviewed the progress of implementation of the ASEAN Political-Security Community (APSC) Blueprint-2025, and Timor-Leste’s Membership to ASEAN, and overall progress in the implementation of the ASEAN Political and Security Community Blueprint 2025, and the submission of the ASEAN Political and Security Strategic Plans which has been crafted in conjunction with the ASEAN Community Vision 2045, implementation of the ASEAN-GCC Framework of Cooperation (2024-2028) as well as exchanged views on regional and international issues.

During the meeting, they exchanged views on matters relating to the provision of relief items to the earthquake victims by the UNOPS and further cooperation between the Government of Myanmar and the UNOPS.

During the meeting, they exchanged views on matters relating to the ICRC’s support to the earthquake victims and future workplans of ICRC at the areas affected by the powerful Mandalay Earthquake.

U Lwin Oo, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar receives Mr. Yuji Mori , Executive Director of the Nippon Foundation (9-5-2025, Nay Pyi Taw)

U Lwin Oo, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar received Mr. Yuji Mori, Executive Director of the Nippon Foundation at 1115 hours on 9 May 2025 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Nay Pyi Taw.
During the meeting, Mr. Yuji Mori conveyed his deepest condolences to the bereaved families and communities affected by the recent devastating earthquake. He informed the Deputy Minister that the Nippon Foundation, in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement, is arranging to provide humanitarian assistance valued at USD 3 million. This assistance will include essential food and medical supplies for the earthquake-affected regions in Sagaing Region, Mandalay Region, Shan State, and Nay Pyi Taw.
The Deputy Minister expressed appreciation for the Foundation’s support and provided an overview of the ongoing post-earthquake rehabilitation efforts. He also highlighted the areas in which further international assistance is needed to support the country’s reconstruction initiatives.

U Than Swe, Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, received H.E. Mr. Abhay Thakur, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, at 1400 hrs on 29 April 2025 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Nay Pyi Taw.
During the meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs of Myanmar expressed his appreciation to India for providing humanitarian assistance and for sending search and rescue teams as well as medical teams to Myanmar in the aftermath of the devastating earthquake. Both sides discussed ways to enhance bilateral relations and cooperation in the ongoing rescue and relief efforts for the victims of the earthquake and in other areas of mutual interest.

During the meeting, they cordially discussed the matters pertaining to the further consolidation of the existing Pauk-Phaw relations and implementation of mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries, to commemorate (75) Anniversary of Diplomatic relations between the two countries, China’s provision of humanitarian assistance, medical aid and rescue teams to Myanmar for the affected families and communities, continued support for the Myanmar Government’s effort in the disaster rehabilitation and resettlement programmes in the affected areas in the aftermath of the devastating earthquake, the maintenance of peace and stability, law enforcement and security cooperation along the Myanmar-China border area, China’s continuous constructive support towards Myanmar’s development endeavor as well as closer collaboration both in regional and international arena.
